High education recruiting in Ontario is about to get a lot more intense.

OCAS ( the Ontario College Application Service ), is making big changes for the 2022-23 recruiting season and the time to get prepared is now.

What are the changes?

This year. The earliest offer date is moving up three months from February 2022, to November 2021. And while May 1st, 2022 will remain the deadline to confirm offers of admission, these changes mean students will have even more time to shop around, compare institutions and change their mind.

What can you do to stay ahead?

With more time, comes more consideration, students will do more research, parents will have more questions. We need to be prepared.

  1. Get ready with more content and put that content in more places. Those questions you get every year from prospects, make sure they're on your website, published across social media and in every information packet you publish.
  2. Schedule more webinars. The more touchpoints with students, the more comfortable they'll feel. Everyone wants to be heard and these sessions are great for giving students a forum.
  3. Make the process human. Build connect and trust through spending more time on showcasing who you are as a recruiter. Showcase current students and alumni, the campus and your educators. Video is especially great for this.
  4. What makes you different? Highlight not just what you have to offer, but all the ways four years at your institution will be unique. Is it the locale, the life around the campus, the extra-curricular programs. There are stories that make you special, use them.
