Goodkind is a venture backed startup made up of an ambitious and distributed team living in Toronto, Vancouver and Bogota. Our platform enables businesses and organizations around the world to grow sales and improve engagement through the use of personal video stories. To date, our customers have sent over 350,000 video stories on Goodkind, and it’s only just the beginning.

About the role

We're looking for someone to take Goodkind's architecture to the next level and accelerate our back end team. As the Senior Back End Developer you'll drive the development team's idea into fruition. You will architect and deploy backend services that will impact >1 million people in 2021 and you'll play a key role in helping us scale to 10 million and beyond. Day to day you'll be hands on in our code and contribute daily while mentoring and coaching other developers.

• You have a track record of success leading software teams and raising the bar for product quality
• You love breaking down technically challenging problems
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical folks
• You learn new skills fast and like learning from others
• You want to teach others what you've learned & improve other's work
• You've architected services that have reached >1 million people
• You are relentlessly curious and are able to change, we move fast
• You speak English and Spanish

• You've gone through SOC 2 compliance audits
• Experience with machine learning

Outcomes

• Architect the scaling of Goodkind's storytelling platform
• Set standards on patterns and development practices to improve our codebase
• Co-lead development and maintenance of backend services
• Mentor engineers and help manage a growing team of 10 developers
• You'll be working with technologies like Node.js, Express, Azure, and MongoDB
• Collaborate with our machine learning engineer
• Work directly with our CTO and development lead to define roadmap items
